Andrew Boldeman will take over responsibilities from Geoff Black as chief executive of group life at Tower.

Life insurer Tower Australia has appointed Andrew Boldeman to the position of chief executive of its group life business.

Boldeman, who was previously head of group life for Tower, brings with him 20 years of experience in various senior financial services roles and will now join the senior executive team reporting directly to managing director Jim Minto.

He takes over the executive responsibility of the group life business from Geoff Black, who was previously group life and investments chief executive.

Black will continue to be chief executive of investments and will lead the next stage of its simplification program, in which Tower is aiming to reduce its number of superannuation funds.

A spokesperson said this would not only enhance the business's ability to deal with customer enquiries, but it would also reduce costs and other unnecessary burdens throughout the business.

Minto said the appointment of Boldeman as a chief executive dedicated solely to group life also reaffirmed the company's commitment to the collective superannuation schemes channel.

"Andrew has performed very strongly, further building the portfolio of key business partners and helped drive the leadership positions Tower Australia has, including around technology and partnering," he said

In a statement, Tower said: "Tower Australia's strategy is to build strong relationships with its business partners by understanding and delivering to their needs.

"Tower has sought to differentiate its proposition through leading claims service and technology platforms and plans to continue to develop its capabilities."
