Findlay Securities appoints a former ETrade chief to its board.

Melbourne-listed stockbroker Findlay Securities has appointed Brett Spork as a non-executive director.

Spork ran ANZ's online share broking platform ETrade for four years until June 2007 and had previously spent 14 years at Macquarie Bank, holding several senior positions with the Macquarie Financial Services group.

Spork was also inducted into the Australian Stockbrokers Foundation's hall of fame in 2004 - an industry award reviewed by peers and representatives of the buy side of the industry.

"On behalf of our shareholders, I am delighted to welcome Brett to the board and we look forward to his contribution to the company as we will build on a rejuvenated Findlay Aequs entity to become a fully integrated provider of stockbroking and financial services," Findlay Securities executive chairman Otto Buttula said.

Findlay has seen a huge clear out of its board and executive teams since Buttula bought into the company last year.

The future of Findlay Securities is uncertain as it goes through a major restructure after its recent merger with Aequs Capital.

The firm also recently closed 80 per cent of its 8500 accounts in March/April this year.
