Financial services company Equity Trustees Limited (EQT) has appointed Alex Keen as key account manager - NSW, as part of its expanding business team.

In his new role, Mr Keen will join EQT's national business development team of 10, bringing the NSW branch to three key account managers.

National manager of EQT funds distribution Rowena Cole said the expansion of the distribution team reflects EQT's commitment to the growing retail and investor directed portfolio service market.

Before joining EQT, Mr Keen was business development manager for Australian Unity Investments and worked with Investa Property Group within its retail funds management business.

His appointment as part of EQT's business development team is the latest in a spate of changes for the financial services company.

Over the last financial year, EQT restructured to an integrated business model with a focus on the needs of both private individuals and corporate clients.

As part of its restructure, EQT announced numerous leadership changes including the appointment of Anne O'Donnell as chair of the ETSL board and Geoff Rimmer as head of private wealth services.

At the time of Ms O'Donnell's appointment, Equity Trustees managing director Robin Burns said the appointment was part of the catalyst for a review of its structure and strategy.

"A few years ago Equity Trustees operated as four different business units; now we have consolidated down to two, focusing on corporate and private clients," Mr Burns said.

"We believe this structure will better allow us to provide a broad range of services to clients."
