BetaShares has appointed former BlackRock executive Dan Annan to director of institutional business in a newly created role.

In a statement, the ETF provider said Mr Annan would lead BetaShares’ “activities with institutional investors” and work alongside BetaShares co-heads of distribution.

Mr Annan makes the move to the new position after 11 years at BlackRock where he held a number of senior roles.

He was most recently vice president, ETF specialist, and, before that, held various business development roles in BlackRock’s iShares.

Commenting on the appointment, BetaShares chief executive Alex Vynokur said the team was “thrilled” to have Mr Annan lead the company’s institutional strategy.

“The industry is maturing rapidly in Australia, with institutions using ASX-traded ETFs increasingly frequently for a range of portfolio applications,” he added.

“We are confident that such institutional usage will only continue to grow over time, and we are positioning ourselves to meet the demand.”
