Generation Development Group (GDG) has announced the appointment of Peter Smith as its new executive director.

Smith enters his new role as the executive chairman, co-founder, and former chief executive of Evidentia Group, which was GDG’s managed accounts business it acquired in February this year. GDG confirmed Smith will commence with the role immediately.

Smith’s experience as a senior executive, board member and business owner spans over three decades, having operated within the management segment. He also has experience in international and domestic markets across global asset management, and private wealth advice.

His previous roles include positions with Macquarie Bank, NAB, MLC and Godfrey Pembroke across Brisbane, Sydney, and London. Smith was also the owner of several businesses in the accounting and private wealth sectors.

Smith holds a bachelor of economics from UOQ, a graduate diploma in applied finance and investments from FINSIA and a diploma in financial services.

Chairman of GDG, Rob Coombe, said: “I am delighted to welcome Peter to GDG’s board and look forward to his wealth of experience and expertise complementing the company’s strategic objectives.”

GDG confirmed Smith will stand for election at its AGM later this year
