HSBC AM announces new regional CEO

HSBC Asset Management (HSBC AM) has announced a new regional CEO for Asia-Pacific and Hong Kong.

Former Fidelity president for China, Daisy Ho, will start with the company on 8 November and will be based in Hong Kong.

With over 20 years’ experience in the asset management industry, Ms Ho also previously worked as Fidelity’s managing director, Asia ex-Japan and Middle East having first joined the group in 2005.

In the new role with HSBC AM, Ms Ho will be responsible for leading the business in Asia-Pacific and build the firm in Hong Kong through increasing market share across core markets.

“Our business in Asia has seen significant momentum, with AUM growing 11 per cent YoY as at 30 September 2021 and 12 per cent YoY in 2020, driven by strong net flows and positive fund performance,” HSBC AM CEO Nicolas Moreau said.

“Daisy’s extensive experience and knowledge of the fast-growing markets in Asia-Pacific will prove invaluable to fulfilling our ambition of becoming a leading international asset manager in the region and supporting HSBC’s Asia Wealth strategy.” 

Ms Ho will replace outgoing CEO Pedro Bastos who will move into the newly created role of CIO international markets and Asia strategist.
