AMP Capital has announced who will take on a newly-created chief investment officer position for its real estate division.

On Tuesday, the wealth giant confirmed Robert Hattersley for the role, who will move from global property company Lendlease where he most recently worked as its group CIO.

During his time at Lendlease, Mr Hattersley was responsible for all third-party capital relationships, which were made up of over $36 billion in assets under management.

Mr Hattersley, who has also previously held senior roles with Mirvac, joins AMP with over 30 years’ experience in the property sector.

He will be responsible for raising capital for the real estate division’s existing funds and mandates and working closely with the origination team to raise capital for new products.

Mr Hattersley will join AMP in early 2022 and report to AMP head of real estate Kylie O’Connor

“I am thrilled to have Rob join our real estate team. His track-record of raising third-party capital, coupled with the respect he has from both local and global investors makes him a welcome addition to our strong team,” Ms O’Connor said.

“Rob will help ensure AMP Capital continues to be positioned as a leading fund manager in the market by identifying and developing assets that will deliver superior returns for our investment partners.”

Mr Hattersley’s appointment comes just a day after AMP announced Christina Malcolm as its leasing director of AMP Capital’s office and logistics real estate team and Bopha Ly as managing director of the group’s energy department.

Ms Malcolm previously held senior roles at Savills, CBRE and JLL, while Ms Ly joins AMP’s infrastructure energy business with almost 24 years of experience in the industry.

Ms Ly will start from 18 October while Ms Malcolm will join in November.
