Mr McHugh will join the Aviva Investors executive team.

He joined the company in 2018 as managing director, real estate. He is also a member of the real assets senior leadership team.

Prior to joining the company, he was head of continental European real estate investment at Standard Live Investments.

Aviva is on the hunt for a new managing director of real estate. In the interim, James Stevens, head of development, global real estate, will lead the team.

Mr Versey, CEO at Aviva Investors commented the real assets business is central to the group’s commercial strategy and an area that has seen strong demand from UK and international clients.

Commenting on the appointment, he said since Mr McHugh had joined the business, it had “significantly built out our development, asset management and transaction capabilities in real estate”, expanding its strategy across new European locations and forging partnerships with international investors.

“Daniel shares my ambition to establish Aviva Investors as a market leader in real assets, and I have every confidence the business will flourish under his leadership,” Mr Versey said.

“My objective will be to ensure we continue growing the platform by delivering the investment outcomes our clients demand,” Mr McHugh added.
