Platinum will appoint a new co-chief investment officer and several new managers across a number of its strategies.

Clay Smolinski has been appointed co-chief investment officer, working alongside Platinum’s current CIO Andrew Clifford. The appointment is effective 1 April 2021. Mr Smolinski joined Platinum as an analyst in 2006 before becoming portfolio manager of its European fund in 2009. He was assigned to manage the unhedged fund in 2014 before taking over portfolio management responsibilities for two other global portfolios. He currently co-manages Platinum’s flagship International Fund.

Platinum has also appointed internal replacement managers for several portfolios. Mr Clifford and Cameron Robertson will now co-manage the Asia ex-Japan portfolios, effective 1 April, with Mr Clifford to manage the majority of the portfolio’s assets. Mr Clifford previously managed the Asia ex-Japan strategy from its inception in 2003 until 2014, while Mr Robertson – who joined Platinum in 2010 – was a co-manager of the Platinum International Technology Fund.

Nikola Dvornak has also been appointed as a co-manager to the Platinum International Fund and to Platinum Capital Limited, its global equity LIC. Mr Dvornak – who joined Platinum in 2006 as an analyst in the financials/services sector – will co-manage the portfolios alongside Mr Clifford and Mr Smolinski.
