The chief information officer will leave the financial services giant at the end of March.

Chief information officer Sarah Harland joined Suncorp in 2016 to lead its technology function. Her responsibilities included digital enablement, cloud and infrastructure, security services, data and innovation labs. She will leave the group on 27 March.

“It has been a privilege to work at Suncorp and be a part of the technology transformation over the past three years, especially during a period of unprecedented change in this sector,” Ms Harland said.

Darren Abbruzzese, Suncorp’s executive general manager digital, labs & insurance technology, will act as chief information officer while Suncorp searches for a permanent replacement.

“Ms Harland has made a significant contribution in strengthening Suncorp’s technology and led Suncorp’s digital transformation over the past three years, including the development of the award-winning Suncorp app that brings together transactional banking, insurance, and rewards for customers,” said Suncorp CEO Steve Johnston.

“Sarah has also driven the development of Suncorp’s leading API layer, which gives the group great flexibility as we adapt to rapidly changing customer and community expectations.”
