Asset manager BNY Mellon Investment Management has appointed a former Mercer executive director as their Asia-Pacific head of consultant relationships and client services.

Based in Hong Kong, Deborah Bannon will manage BNY Mellon’s relationships with consulting firms, many of which have a focus in the Asia-Pacific region such as Japan, China, Korea and Australia.

Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Ms Bannon was executive director and investments business leader at Mercer Investments (HK) Limited for five years, and before this spent eight years at Pioneer Investments Hong Kong as head of institutional business, Asia.

BNY Mellon Investment Management co-head Lindsay Wright said Ms Bannon’s background in asset management and consulting lent her expertise in this area.

“Asia’s institutional landscape is changing; clients are demanding diversity and choice. They are seeking a range of investment solutions across a range of asset classes, and our multi-boutique model means we are well placed to meet this demand,” Ms Wright said.

“Her experience in working with a wide range of clients including sovereign wealth funds, central banks, pension funds, insurance companies and wealth managers will put her in good stead for her role with BNY Mellon Investment Management.”
