Grant Thornton has recruited a former KPMG wealth management auditor and consultant to head up its financial services practice.

The accounting and professional services firm yesterday announced that former KPMG staffer Madeleine Mattera joined the firm this week.

Ms Mattera will take on the role of national head of financial services and will also serve as an audit and advisory partner in the Sydney office, overseeing audits for clients in the wealth management, general insurance, banking and superannuation sectors.

She said the move to a new employer comes as the financial services industry faces a period of “unprecedented change” in which it’s consulting and advisory relations are “pivotal”.

“We want to ensure our clients are ready to embrace the transformation and advocate [for] sector reform that delivers better outcomes for retirement in Australia,” Ms Mattera said.

“We encourage the current debate and reform, but a lot more needs to be done. The outcomes of sector reform will have a profound impact on the next generation.”
