Mr Griffiths has held a number of executive positions within the financial services industry including as chief executive of Aviva Australia and managing director of South East Asia, Aviva Asia.
Prior to joining Aviva Mr Griffiths held positions with Norwich Union and Colonial.
IOOF said he will bring broad ranging skills to the board such as a deep understanding of the insurance sector.

Shareholders will be asked to consider the appointment at the next annual general meeting on 25 November 2014.
