Westpac has appointed Steve Hannan as national general manager of its agribusiness operation, following the retirement of Graham Jennings who left the role in March.

Mr Hannan has worked for Westpac for 25 years and has been acting national general manager of agribusiness since Mr Jennings’ departure in March.

He first joined Westpac in 1989 working across AusGroup Company, commercial banking, BT and retail banking and has performed leadership roles since 1998.

He has run Westpac’s regional, commercial and agribusiness operations in NSW and the bank’s regional commercial business in Queensland.

Mr Hannan was also head of business banking for regional NSW and the ACT.

General manager of the commercial banking division of Westpac's retail and business banking Alastair Welsh said Mr Hannan has a detailed knowledge and experience of the agribusiness sector and a deep connection with Westpac’s customers and bankers.

“He is also a passionate advocate for vibrant and sustainable communities in regional, rural and remote Australia,” said Mr Welsh.

“As a result, he totally embodies Westpac’s long history, now dating back almost 200 years, of supporting Australian farmers through the good times and the tough ones,” he said.
