Northern Trust appoints head of Asia-Pacific

William Mak has been appointed as head of the Asia-Pacific region replacing Teresa Parker who will assume a key role at the company’s headquarters in Chicago.

Mr Mak has been Singapore country manager and head of South East Asia since joining Northern Trust in July 2010. 

He holds more than 25 years of experience in the region’s financial services industry including government and corporate entities. 

Ms Parker has been head of Asia-Pacific since August 2009, after coming to the region from senior leadership posts in the London office.

She will re-locate to Chicago to serve as a strategic adviser to corporate and institutional services president Steven Fradkin and his leadership team. 

Mr Fradkin said under Teresa Parker’s leadership the Asia-Pacific region “achieved strong business growth in tandem with significant investment by Northern Trust”. 

He said Mr Mak brings a strong knowledge of markets to the role and a “record of stewardship, an ability to develop client relationships and a focus on employee engagement and talent development to the role”.
