Liquidnet appoints chief operating officer as APAC

Global institutional trading network Liquidnet has appointed Andrew Walton to the newly created role of chief operating officer for the Asia- Pacific region (APAC), effective April 22.

Mr Walton will manage member services, electronic trading systems and finance and administration functions across APAC. 

He will be based in Hong Kong and report directly to Liquidnet head of the Asia-Pacific, Lee Porter. 

Mr Walton has 15 years of experience in project management and trading technology in the Asia Pacific having worked at UBS and as head of market operations at Chi-X Australia.

He has also held roles with the ASX, specialising in developing new products, including the implementation of a venue for the matching of large-sized equity trades. 

Mr Porter said Mr Walton will be a valuable addition to Liquidnet’s APAC business” as he will provide leadership at a time when the business is performing strongly in the region with record growth, led by “ongoing demand from members to access large blocks of natural liquidity”. 

“Andrew’s appointment will allow Liquidnet in APAC to move to the next level as we pursue growth opportunities and build upon an already successful platform that serves the world’s leading asset management firms,” Mr Porter.
