Aberdeen Asset Management has appointed Victor Rodriguez as head of its Asia Pacific fixed income business.

Nick Bishop has been promoted to Mr Rodriguez’s current role as head of the Australian fixed income team.

According to Aberdeen, the two new appointments will enhance investment consistency across Aberdeen’s global fixed income teams and encourage greater collaboration between the Australian and regional fixed income teams.

Mr Rodriguez will spend an increasing amount of time in Asia through the year and will permanently relocate to Singapore at the end of 2014.

After this, he will still remain significantly involved with the Australian fixed income strategy teams.

Anthony Michael has decided to leave the business due to the reorganisation. Aberdeen acknowledged Mr Michael’s 18 years of service with Aberdeen, including six years as head of Asia Pacific fixed income in Singapore.

Aberdeen managing director, Australia, Brett Jollie, said the promotions recognised the depth and quality of Aberdeen’s investing talent.

“Victor is a widely respected investor and his new role is an endorsement of his ability as a fixed income manager and his success in building a strong and stable team in Australia,” Mr Jollie said.

“He is ideally suited to head up Aberdeen’s Asia Pacific fixed income business.”

Mr Jollie added that Mr Bishop was the natural choice for the position of head of the Australian fixed income team.

“He too is an outstanding investor, with deep knowledge of Aberdeen’s broad Australian fixed income product set and client base, and a strong commitment to ensuring we continue to deliver for our clients,” he said.
