AMP has announced the appointment of Kavita Mistry as chief technology officer (CTO) and as the newest member of its executive committee.

Ms Mistry brings more than two decades of experience across a variety of technology roles specialising in financial services, including superannuation, investments, digital, data, lending, and corporate applications.

She first joined AMP in January 2023 as director of technology for its wealth, service and enterprise platforms.

Prior to AMP, Ms Mistry was at AustralianSuper, where she held the roles of co-acting-CTO and head of enterprise technology. With the fund, she was involved in establishing and overseeing the technol capabilities across investments, member experience, cloud infrastructure, data, CRM and enterprise technology assets.

Before this, Ms Mistry had a 14-year stint at ANZ, where she held various senior positions, including leadership roles within home and business lending technology.

The appointment follows a “rigorous internal selection process” following the recent resignation of Felicia Trewin, according to AMP.

AMP chief executive Alexis George commented: “We are delighted with the appointment of Kavita Mistry as chief technology officer.”

“In her 12 months with AMP she has proven herself to be an excellent leader with a depth of capability in leading technology transformation. She is well placed to lead the team through this next phase of transformation as part of the executive committee,” she added.

Ms George additionally thanked Ms Trewin for her tenure as CTO and her “focus on creating a unified technology team with a clear path forward”.

“We wish Felicia all the best in her new role and thank her for her work reshaping the technology function and building a depth of talent.”

Ms Mistry also took to LinkedIn on Tuesday to celebrate her appointment, commenting: “I’m proud and humbled to share my appointment as chief technology officer at AMP. It’s been a big year for technology at AMP, which has seen us create a unified technology team and make solid progress delivering on our strategy.”

“I’m excited to be leading the next phase of our technology transformation and to work closely with a highly talented, engaged, and customer-centric team that is aligned to AMP’s purpose of helping people create their tomorrow,” Ms Mistry concluded.

This month AMP also announced that it is planning to launch a new digital bank that aims to meet the transaction needs of sole traders and small businesses.

The digital bank is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025 and will operate on a separate platform as a new division of AMP Bank.

“This new offer builds on AMP Bank’s strengths and addresses an underserved and growing segment of the market,” Ms George said earlier this month.
