InvestorDaily’s sister brand Super Review was proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the annual Super Fund of the Year Awards at the gala black-tie ceremony held tonight (Wednesday, 25 October 2023) at Grand Hyatt, Melbourne.

There were 21 winners this year, out of which 18 were chosen by research partner SuperRatings using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies and underpinned by SuperRatings’ annual review of funds using an extensive collection of data.

The unparalleled awards ceremony recognised the top superannuation funds, trustees, institutions, and executives, as well as boutique challengers and the rising stars of tomorrow.

This year’s top prize – the Fund of the Year award – was given to UniSuper, after it won three other awards earlier.

HESTA (an industry superannuation fund for workers in health and community sectors) and Aware Super were named as winners in two categories each.

Alongside this, there were two additional categories added to the pool of awards this year.

The first was the submission-based Industry Thought Leader of the Year award, for which the winner was determined by a panel of respected professionals and business leaders against the criteria.

This category acknowledges growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence, and contributions to Australia’s financial advice sector.

The second category was the Best Super Fund award, where the winner was determined through a vote by financial advisers.

Over 300 members of the superannuation industry were in attendance at the 10th annual Super Fund of the Year Awards to celebrate their achievements, cheer for their colleagues, and network with industry leaders and their peers.

Australian satirist, comedian, writer, and actor Mark Humphries assumed emcee duties at the gala ceremony and provided light and laughter throughout the evening.

Launched in 2014, the Super Fund of the Year Awards is an unparalleled and whole-of-market program that recognises the top businesses and professionals in the superannuation sector.

It acknowledges the hard work and achievements of super fund trustees and executives, group insurance executives, and custodians.

The awards were open to every organisation and professional that supports the super industry and propels it forward, from the largest institutions and funds to the boutique challengers.

The awards are peer-reviewed recognition of the capabilities of members of the sector, with the judging panel including academics, business executives, entrepreneurs, and innovators.

Winning an award could help super funds distinguish themselves from their competitors and strengthen their position in the industry while elevating their personal brand.

Laura Dew, editor of Super Review, commented: “I would like to extend my congratulations to all of this year’s winners. It is a great recognition and reflection of their work this year to achieve the best investment performance and customer experience for their members.

“Well done in particular to UniSuper for winning the overall Fund of the Year, a notable achievement in a very strong field.”

InvestorDaily and Super Review would like to thank all partners for their invaluable support, including research partner SuperRatings, platinum partner MLC Life Insurance and Bravura Solutions, and charity partner Invictus Australia.
