SuperStream fuels IQ Group expansion

IQ Group has added to its Queensland consulting team to meet the needs of superannuation and wealth management clients who are facing reforms.

The technology provider is “consciously” trying to recruit more locally, IQ Group chief executive officer Graham Sammells told InvestorDaily.

“I think we’ll continue to grow organically pretty quickly in Queensland on the back of all the change that’s going on,” Mr Sammells said.

“We’re helping our clients determine [the] right technology solution for them and what the impacts will be on their business processes, and thinking also how they will communicate and handle the changed management, particularly with employers,” he added.

Although Sammells believes IQ Group’s clients are ready for the reforms, he said the timeframe set by the government is “extremely challenging.”

“Because of the fixed timeframes… the way funds are approaching this is necessarily tactical, which means there’ll be re-work and re-work over the years to come,” Mr Sammells said.

These comments follow the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) this week calling for “urgent discussion” to find a more appropriate timeframe to respond to SuperStream changes.

IQ Group’s expansion into Queensland has also resulted in “client wins” from the government sector as well as industry funds and key service providers, said Mr Sammells. He added that IQ Group will potentially be adding clients in the next six months.

Mr Sammells said IQ Group’s expansion is not purely related to SuperStream projects, it is also working on projects related to information management, business intelligence and the IQ Board Solution which is “getting more traction.”

“We are reviewing the overall member engagement processes and the specific improvements that new and enhanced platform technologies can provide,” Mr Sammells said. “Queensland is proving to be a highly dynamic business environment for IQ Group and we look forward to continued growth of our team of specialist consultants and clients.”
