In a statement, SSGA announced that SPDR Exchange Traded Funds head of Nordics Marcus Miholich would step into the new role of managing director and head of capital markets for Asia Pacific and EMEA effective immediately.

Before joining State Street, Mr Miholich was managing director and head of Delta One, ETF and cash equity trading at Haitong Securities.

From 1998 to 2015, he held various director or vice president roles in equity trading at Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, and Morgan Stanley.

Mr Miholich will continue to report to global head of capital markets Tim Coyne, who said the capital markets team performed an “integral role” as experts on ETF trading.

“Their knowledge of the ETF ecosystem and relationships with market makers and authorised participants ensure that when clients trade our funds, they can access the liquidity they require at the right price point and with appropriate execution costs,” Mr Coyne said.

“Marcus brings a wealth of ETF and trading experience to our team and we look forward to working with him to strengthen our capability in this critical function.”
