Melbourne-based funds management firm Spatium Capital and Singapore-based Conduit Group have announced consolidation plans to expand their collaboration across distribution and markets.

According to the firms, this strengthened partnership aims to leverage their deep expertise and resources, combining Spatium’s quantitative investment approach with Conduit’s global reach.

Paul Durrant, chief executive of Conduit Group, described the consolidation as a “significant milestone” for both firms’ growth strategies.

“By combining our complementary strengths and working together with Nicholas Quinn and Jesse Moors to enhance our ability to upscale exposure into international markets, we are well-positioned to offer clients enhanced access to global capital markets and provide more robust solutions to meet their evolving financial needs,” he said.

Jesse Moors, director of Spatium Capital, also expressed optimism regarding the move.

“Our shared commitment to innovation and delivering superior financial products will help us better serve our clients in Australia, offering them unique international investment opportunities in an increasingly interconnected financial world,” he said.

Moors also noted how the consolidation will enhance the firms’ abilities to meet the demand for innovative products among Australian wealth advisers, institutions and researchers in a market “that is desperately seeking differentiation”.

Among other key benefits, the consolidation is expected to provide joint access to global financial markets and bolster distribution capabilities for investment productions to institutional and wholesale investors across regions like Asia, Australia, Europe, the South Pacific, and emerging markets.

It will also foster innovation through the combined expertise in structuring bespoke financial products, allowing for Conduit Group and Spatium Capital to provide clients with tailored investment strategies with quantitative and qualitative overlays.

Conduit Group comprises Conduit Asset Management, which offers a suite of services for institutional investors and family offices, as well as Conduit Securities, an agency-only execution broker. It also includes subsidiaries Conduit Suisse and funds management business Conduit Cayman.

Meanwhile Spatium Capital is an independently owned funds management firm, catering to wholesale and sophisticated investors. It specialises in identifying mispriced listed equities, applying thorough statistical and volatility modelling to listed market data.

Since inception in 2018, the Spatium Small Companies Fund has delivered 44.4 per cent against the benchmark return of 9.8 per cent.

Earlier this year, Nicholas Quinn, co-portfolio manager and director of Spatium Capital, was also named Rising Star of the Year at InvestorDaily’s sister brand, Money Management’s Fund Manager of the Year Awards 2024.
