The Labor leader unveiled the frontbench reordering on Thursday, commenting he was confident he had formed the “strongest team to lead an Albanese Labor government”.
Shadow financial services minister Stephen Jones will now be overlooking superannuation, positioning his station closer to Jane Hume, Minister for Superannuation, Financial Services and the Digital Economy.
“Stephen Jones has had superannuation added to his title to reflect what the government has done and the rest of our changes do reflect the existing government portfolios, so that there’s a consistency there,” Mr Albanese declared during a press briefing.
“I think that is something that will be a positive.”
Ms Hume’s position was upgraded from her former assistant minister title in the recent Coalition reshuffle in December.
In other Labor updates, shadow assistant financial services minister Matthew Thistlethwaite has also gained superannuation in his portfolio.
He will keep his other title of shadow assistant minister for the republic.
Jim Chalmers has retained his role as shadow treasurer, while Mr Jones has remained shadow assistant treasurer.
Katy Gallagher has also remained shadow finance minister, while Andrew Leigh will stay shadow assistant minister for treasury and shadow minister for charities.
