Schroders has appointed Marcus Burns to the newly-created position of senior portfolio manager within the Australian equities team.

Burns previously fulfilled a chief investment officer position at Natural Capital, a privately-owned, Sydney-based global equities funds management firm, which he co-founded.

Commencing next month, Marcus will co-manage the Australian smaller companies and micro-cap portfolios, working closely with senior portfolio manager David Wanis, while reporting to Schroders head of Australian equities Martin Conlon.

“The challenges facing equity investment managers in the current market environment make staff of the highest calibre a prerequisite for delivering good-quality results for clients,” Conlon said.

“Adding to an already strong team, we are confident that Marcus’ insights and breadth of investment knowledge will be invaluable in ensuring that our research efforts translate into strong client outcomes.”
