Saxo Markets Australia has announced the appointment of Jessica Amir as Australian markets strategist and David Harvie as head of direct sales.

Ms Amir has more than 14 years of experience in financial markets and joins Saxo from her previous role of senior market analyst and media presenter at Bell Direct.

She previously headed news and content at Sequoia-owned Finance News Network and has broadcast experience with ABC, Sky News, Seven Network and Nine Network.

Additionally, Ms Amir is a qualified financial adviser and has previously held roles at the Commonwealth Bank, Suncorp and AMP.

As Australian markets strategist, her responsibilities will include providing real-time market updates and data analysis and delivering Australia-specific market insights alongside Saxo’s global sales trading team.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining a global fintech pioneer like Saxo”, said Ms Amir.

“Over the last 15 years, I’ve become increasingly passionate about demystifying the finance world and global markets. I also extremely enjoy helping investors understand what drives markets and how they can maximise their investments.”

Meanwhile, Mr Harvie joins from his previous role as national financial wellbeing manager at IOOF Holdings and has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services sector.

During his career, Mr Harvie has provided strategic wealth management advice and solutions to family offices, business owners and individuals and was formerly a long-standing member of the Council of Governors at the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia.

In his new role as head of direct sales at Saxo, he will be responsible for designing and executing strategies to drive sales growth, improving customer experience and retention, and overseeing the firm’s team of local relationship managers.

“I’m looking forward to sinking my teeth into this new role at an internationally renowned firm,” said Mr Harvie.

“I have a passion for developing innovative solutions to help clients reach their short and long-term goals, which I’m hoping will bring a lot of value to the Saxo team.”

Saxo Markets Australia CEO Adam Smith said that the two appointments would help strengthen the firm’s wealth and asset management capabilities.

“We have been offering professional traders and investors access to global markets for a number of years now and are looking to extend our focus on wealth and asset management products,” he said.

“Both Jessica and David bring the experience and energy we’re looking for to continue to drive our Australian business forward.”
