In his new role, Mr Casey will be responsible for overseeing the investment governance functions of the $39 billion fund.
He will also manage REST’s relationships with the fund’s asset consultant, custodian and external investment managers.
REST chief executive Damian Hill said Mr Casey’s experience with leading global financial services brands made him an ideal candidate for the role.
“Not only is Brendan an exceptionally experienced financial services professional, he’s also an incredibly passionate and dedicated individual – a great fit for our team,” Mr Hill said.
Mr Casey was most recently head of investment operations at Suncorp.
