Pretium Partners has announced the appointment of Craig Matthew as MD for Australia & New Zealand alongside the establishment of its first offices in Australia and Asia.

The $50 billion specialised investment firm, which also named Jayme Han as MD for Asia, stated that it was expanding its business development capabilities and commitment to the region to further its goal of becoming a partner of choice for investors globally.

“As Pretium continues to expand our client base globally and deploy growing capital across our real estate and credit strategies, Asia and Australia represent important strategic markets and opportunities for growth,” said Pretium founder and CEO Don Mullen.

“Jayme and Craig bring deep expertise and local connection within the Asian and Australian markets to support our investors where they are. Following our recent expansion into the Middle East, we are pleased to continue to grow our team with such talented and respected individuals to work with clients internationally.”

Mr Matthew has almost three decades of business development and investor relations experience and joins Pretium from Asia Principal Capital and Morpheus Ventures, where he was director in the private market investor relations group.

Prior to this, he was a director of institutional relationships at Capital Group Companies and served in a variety of business development roles in New York and Sydney at global asset manager, AllianceBernstein.

He is an accredited superannuation trustee director and has been an active organiser of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia’s Annual Conference for the past decade.

“Joining an innovative, forward-thinking global investment platform like Pretium is an incredible opportunity,” Mr Matthew said on his appointment.

“With an existing network of leading investors and partners in Australia and New Zealand, and an unmatched investment track record, I am confident that we are positioned to continue growing the firm’s client base and presence throughout the region.”’

Meanwhile, Ms Han was most recently an executive director, corporate finance for Jones Lang LaSalle and previously served as head of alternatives at Tongyang Life Insurance and as one of the founding members of the alternatives business and the first dedicated real assets specialist for South Korea’s National Pension Service.

Pretium said that Mr Matthew and Ms Han will both work closely with the firm’s existing clients and consultants, new clients, and institutional and wealth management entities in their respective regions.
