Fixed income manager Omega Global Investors has expanded its investment team with the appointment of Shan Kwee as portfolio manager.

Kwee joins Omega from Vanguard Investments, where he managed a portfolio in excess of $10 billion in his role as fixed interest portfolio manager. In this position he looked after both institutional and retail portfolios, and was responsible for devising and managing currency hedging strategies, cash flow rebalancing, asset and liability matching, and derivative overlays.

As portfolio manager with Omega, Kwee will oversee portfolio construction and management, attribution analysis, risk model development and management, and system design and development.

Kwee brings to his new job at Omega over 10 years of industry experience involving a variety of disciplines, including quantitative portfolio management and execution, system development, product and solution development, as well as risk management.

The organisation’s latest staff addition has been made with a view to continuing the growth of the investment manager, Omega investments director Andrew Gruskin said.

“We are very pleased to welcome Shan to Omega Global Investors and expect he will be a fantastic addition to the team,” he said.

“We are seeing a lot of interest in the market for our products, particularly our Global Corporate Bond Fund, and after recently securing Medibank and Telstra Super as clients, among others, we have been looking to expand our team.

“Shan has extensive experience in investment management and will be invaluable in providing our clients with in-depth knowledge and industry expertise.”
