Mr Cook has joined the company from State Street, where he worked as a transition manager for the past nine years.

He has been in the industry for 14 years, having experience in equities, fixed income and project management, which Northern Trust believes will support its growing capital markets business in the APAC region.

Ben Jenkins, global head of transition management at Northern Trust Capital Markets said establishing the segment in Australia further extends the company’s global capabilities.

“Today’s uncertain, often complex environment means our clients require sophisticated, bespoke solutions for their portfolio transitions,” Mr Jenkins said.

“With trading desks in Chicago, London and now Sydney, Northern Trust is ideally placed to support our clients’ strategies ever more closely – in their home markets and globally.”

Additionally, Northern Trust has added Rob Dixon to its team of transition management experts in London.

Mr Dixon has also come from State Street, where he worked as a transition manager in Sydney, with responsibilities across the Asia-Pacific.

Northern Trust will hold him responsible for supporting the changing requirements of its clients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Mr Dixon has more than 14 years’ experience.

Craig Blackbourn, EMEA head of transition management at Northern Trust Capital Markets said his division’s team has experienced significant growth in market volume, “growing [sixfold] since 2016.”

“We are excited to add Rob to our talented team of experts focused on supporting our clients’ requirements for customised trading, expert project management and the careful migration of costs and risks in their transitions,” Mr Blackburn said.

Northern Turst Capital Markets provide trading and execution services on behalf of institutional clients, including foreign exchange, institutional brokerage, securities lending and transition management services.
