The appointment follows an “extensive review of the role that product innovation and development will play” in asset management in the future, the company said.
Mr Koster will be responsible for driving Nikko Asset Management’s product agenda, reporting to the company’s Australian managing director Sam Hallinan.
“I am personally pleased that someone of Hendrie’s talent and experience in working directly with clients has made the decision to join us,” Mr Hallinan said.
“We want the best talent available in our team to continue on our path of reinvention and improvement.”
Mr Hallinan said “changing market dynamics” was driving transformation in the asset management sector, and the new role reflected that shift.
“Nikko AM Australia is taking positive steps to ensure that our business is well prepared to respond to these changes,” he said.
