The corporate watchdog has made a number of senior appointments.

ASIC has named a new deputy chairman and new commissioner as part of a series of senior hires.

The corporate watchdog has appointed Belinda Gibson to the role of deputy chairman and named Shane Tregillis as a new commissioner.

"Belinda Gibson and Shane Tregillis both have long experience in corporate regulation and securities and will ensure the commission has the depth and the background to deal with our increasing responsibilities, including market supervision and consumer credit," ASIC chairman Tony D'Aloisio said.
