Specialist investment manager, Nanuk Asset Management, has announced the appointment of Marie Miyashiro to the newly created role of senior investment analyst.

Ms Miyashiro has more than 20 years of experience in global equities research. She most recently served as global equities analyst at Platinum Asset Management and has also previously held roles at AMP, Credit Suisse and Citi Research.

She holds a bachelor of commerce from the University of NSW and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Commenting on the appointment, Nanuk Asset Management MD, Paul Chadwick, stated that Ms Miyashiro’s extensive expertise in the Asian equities sector, and with infrastructure and utility projects, will  help extend the firm’s footprint into these growing markets.

“I am delighted to have Marie join our talented team. Marie provides further depth to the Nanuk investment team as she brings highly valuable insights into the global equities market from a career spanning over two decades,” he said.

“Her deep knowledge and understanding of the market will play a pivotal role in our active approach moving forward.”

Nanuk described itself as an industry leader in sustainable and responsible investing which invests in globally listed companies whose activities and practices contribute to or benefit from the transition to greater global sustainability.

Earlier this year, the Nanuk New World Fund was listed on the ASX after originally being established as an unlisted fund in 2015. The fund invests in listed companies exposed to the broad theme of environmental sustainability and resource efficiency.

“Investing in areas related to sustainability shows no signs of slowing down,” said Mr Chadwick.

“Our focus is global, and the ongoing expansion at Nanuk comes as we continue to see an increase in investors and advisers seeking global equities strategies that deliver both strong returns and positive environmental benefits.”

Nanuk’s current team includes CIO Tom King, London-based portfolio manager Binya Even and portfolio managers Jane Henderson, Tristan Patience and Peter Wilmshurst.
