Kristian Zimmermann has taken the role, where he will be tasked with growing the Australian MLC private equity business.

Mr Zimmermann reportedly has 20 years of industry experience, having most recently been a senior director and head of the investment review team at Temasek.

He previously held senior roles at CBA, Macquarie, Deutsche Bank and Merrill Lynch.

Mr Zimmermann will commence with MLC in mid-June, where he will work alongside New York-based co-head Marek Herchel.

“Kristian brings extensive experience and a complementary skillset to the role, which will further support the development and growth of MLC Private Equity,” Mr Herchel said.

Mr Herchel will continue to drive the investment agenda globally, while Mr Zimmermann will focus on growing the Aussie business and on delivering MLC’s Private Equity capability to a broader range of clients.

MLC chief investment officer Jonathan Armitage commented Mr Zimmermann’s appointment will add further depth and expertise to MLC’s existing private equity team.

“Kristian’s impressive, wide-ranging international expertise together with his experience in leading a team that looked at a wide range of unlisted assets such as private equity, direct property and infrastructure, as well as listed equity and fund investments means he is a great fit for this role,” Mr Armitage said.

Mr Zimmermann’s appointment has followed that of Rachael Lockyer, who joined the MLC AM private equity team earlier in the year as portfolio manager.

Ms Lockyer reportedly has 14 years’ experience, having previously worked at Ironbridge Capital and L Catterton.
