Mason Stevens has appointed Andrew Ash as head of manager research and Lloyd Mitchell as head of fixed income to its global investment team to focus on delivering wealth management solutions to clients within a managed discretionary account framework.

Mr Ash will be working closely with head of asset allocation, Paul Spence, to support clients on their managed discretionary account journey and building out the firm’s high conviction list.

He brings over 20 years of experience in wealth management to the position, having previously held roles at Citigroup and Insignia Financial.

“Using my deep knowledge across manager research and portfolio construction, I am excited to be able to lead Mason Stevens [sic] manager research efforts,” Mr Ash commented.

As head of fixed income, Mr Mitchell will work alongside Mason Stevens chief investment officer, Jacqueline Fernley, to develop portfolios for the firm’s clients.

He has over 16 years of experience in financial services across product development and institutional portfolio management.

About his new role, Mr Mitchell said: “I am looking forward to growing Mason Stevens [sic] fixed income offering, especially now that normalisation in fixed income markets has resulted in this asset class once again providing compelling income and diversification benefits to multi asset portfolios.”

Ms Fernley said that Mr Ash and Mr Mitchell bring extensive skills to the existing investment team.

“The combined team is now well positioned to deliver on the Mason Stevens Outsourced [sic] CIO strategy,” Ms Fernley continued.

The announcement comes after interim head of fixed income Andrew Baume decided to step down after eight months in the role.

“Andrew Baume has been instrumental in re-establishing Mason Stevens [sic] capabilities in the fixed income market, and we thank him for the invaluable contribution he has made to the business, in particular to the Global Investments team and wish him all the best for his future endeavours. I am looking forward to welcoming Lloyd Mitchell to the team to lead our fixed income capability, which includes the Mason Stevens wholesale and retail SMA,” Ms Fernley concluded.
