The appointment follows the removal of previous chair Paul Jensen by Hunter Hall Global Value (HHV) shareholders at a general meeting last week.

Mr Millner has extensive experience in the listed investment company sector, having previously served as chair of Milton Corporation and BKI Investment Company, in addition to his current role as chair of HHV’s second-largest shareholder Washington H. Soul Pattinson.

HHV deputy chair David Groves said the board had already begun looking for a suitable replacement for Mr Jensen, but that the company would “not rush any decision at the expense of identifying the best possible candidate”.

“In the meantime, we are grateful to Robert Millner for agreeing to take on the interim director role,” Mr Groves said.

“Fellow director Julian Constable and I welcome Robert’s extensive commercial and listed company board experience and his willingness to step in so that shareholders are not inconvenienced by the vacancy on the board which occurred last week.”
