Catherine McCormack will step into the role, returning to Australia after more than 13 years with Wall Street giant Goldman Sachs, with key initial responsibility for building out Jarden’s local infrastructure team.
“Cath has served as a trusted advisor to clients across a number of natural resources sectors and brings relevant industry experience, an international perspective, and a deep knowledge of all investment banking products,” Jarden said in a statement.
Ms McCormack started with Goldman in 2007 as an analyst. More recently she was responsible for its North American chemicals business, providing M&A and financing advisory to a number of corporates and financial sponsors. She has also been a member of Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking women’s network steering committee since 2016, established the Natural Resources Women’s Network in 2018, and participated in the Women on Boards Initiative in 2019.
She holds an LLB and bachelor of commerce (honours) from the University of Queensland.
The appointment is the latest development in a recruiting spree for Jarden, which recently hired a new “heavyweight” analyst team and made 40 other appointments across capital markets, corporate advisory and equities and research.
