Janus Henderson has announced the appointment of Leslie Seidman as an independent board director, in addition to chair of the audit committee, and member of the governance and nominations committee, effective 1 June 2023.

After the appointment comes into effect, Janus Henderson’s board will be 11-strong, with 10 serving as independent non-executive directors.

Ms Seidman has over 30 years of experience in accounting, serving as a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board from 2003 to 2013, and as chair for the last three years of her term.

Previously, Ms Seidman founded a financial reporting consulting firm that operated between 1999 and 2003, served as vice-president of accounting policy at JPMorgan, and was an auditor for Arthur Young, who merged with Ernst & Whinney in 1989 to form Ernst & Young.

She was also a public governor of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority from 2014 to 2019 and a director of General Electric, where she served as chair of the audit committee, before stepping down last month.

Commenting on the appointment, Janus Henderson chair John Cassaday said: “We are delighted to welcome Leslie Seidman to Janus Henderson as an independent director of the board and as chair of the audit committee.”

“Leslie is a recognised thought leader in corporate governance and financial reporting, and her breadth and depth of experience will be invaluable in helping guide and position Janus Henderson for future success,” Mr Cassaday added.

Currently, Ms Seidman is an independent director of financial services company Moody’s Corporation, where she serves as chair of the governance and nominating committee and sits on both audit and executive committees.

She is also an adviser to fintech idaciti, and as a certified public accountant, has earned certifications in cyber security and ESG oversight.

“I am honoured to be appointed to the board of Janus Henderson, one of the most respected asset managers providing research-based investment alternatives to institutional and individual investors,” Ms Seidman said.

“I look forward to working closely with the other board members and the management team to help guide and position Janus Henderson in its mission of helping its clients, and their clients, invest in a brighter future together,” she concluded.

Ms Seidman has a bachelor of arts in English from Colgate University and has a master’s in accounting from the New York University Stern School of Business.
