Ignition Advice has bolstered its executive team with the appointment of Enda Mahoney to the newly created position of chief platform and technology officer.

In a statement on Thursday, the firm said Mr Mahoney will lead Ignition’s platform and product division, responsible for meeting the evolving needs of institutional clients and further strengthening Ignition’s position in the industry as the company scales up its business, both in Australia and overseas.

Mr Mahoney, who most recently served as chief technology officer at Mason Stevens, brings a wealth of experience in building wealth management and advice platforms across Australia and the United Kingdom.

Namely, he has held senior leadership positions in fintech and institutional firms including SS&C, Bravura, Blackrock Solutions, Macquarie Bank, Colonial First State, and BT Financial Group.

As chief platform and technology officer, he will be based in Sydney and report to Ignition Group chief executive officer Terry Donohoe.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Donohoe said: “Enda’s deep understanding of design thinking, cloud-based platform expansion, and proven ability to drive transformational change in culture and process make him a great fit for this new role.

“We are confident his expertise will play a pivotal role in shaping our future growth and enable us to deliver even greater value to our clients.”

“I am looking forward to working alongside a talented team dedicated to transforming the way financial advice is delivered,” Mr Mahoney added.

“The team has created a groundbreaking platform that will meet the challenge of scaling our business to meet the global demand for our services. The high calibre of the team in Australia and globally, as well as the cutting-edge engineering, continues to lead the way in the provision of hybrid digital advice.”

In other news for the firm, Robert Coulter, head of clients at Ignition Advice Asia-Pacific (APAC) announced his resignation last month, having accepted a role with Allianz Retire+ as national platform and relationship manager.

Mr Coulter took to LinkedIn to announce his retirement from the fintech firm and said the recent departure of Ignition’s APAC chief executive officer Craig Keary inspired his transition.

“Many of you read the post from Craig Keary, announcing he was stepping down as CEO APAC to pursue a non-executive and advisory career. I have also reflected that now is the time for a change for me,” he wrote.
