Shoby Kelliher has been appointed the new global head of enterprise data management at Janus Henderson Group plc (NYSE/ASX: JHG) where she will lead firm-wide data strategy and governance, data platform management and data operations, shaping how the organisation uses its data.

Ms Kelliher arrives at Janus from Neuberger Berman where she held the role of senior vice president of client data management, being responsible for a global team that managed client data. Additionally, Ms Kelliher was a vice president at Goldman Sachs investment management division, US mutual funds service.

This new role will see Ms Kelliher and her team provide stewardship across classified data domains for the firm, enable consistent data documentation and ensure that day-to-day data management runs smoothly.

Her main focuses include streamlining master data sources in order for data to be consistently fed downstream into other applications, as well as eliminating legacy data platforms to simplify, modernise and standardise data infrastructure.

Ms Kelliher will report to global COO, James (J.R.) Lowry and will be based in Denver, Colorado.

Mr. Lowry said the firm made “significant progress laying new foundations for enhanced data management,” and Ms Kelliher’s appointment will be crucial in the efforts of maturing their data, processes and systems.

“Her expertise in global data management will help us ensure our data organisation is able to support our firm’s continued growth and innovation,” Mr Lowry said.

The firm recognises that as an active manager, data is the “lifeblood” of its business, especially for a global firm traversing through complex regulatory requirements, meaning that strong leadership in the field of data management is crucial.

Ms Kelliher’s appointment is a component of a multi-year effort by the firm in order to transform and improve their operating infrastructure.
