Fidelity International has announced the appointment of Lukasz de Pourbaix as global cross asset specialist, reporting to Fidelity Australia managing director Lawrence Hanson.

In a statement on Monday, the firm said that Mr de Pourbaix will work closely with clients to communicate the firm’s investment strategy, market views and performance, as well as help identify new investment capabilities and products to introduce into the Australian market.

He brings more than two decades of experience in the wealth management industry into the role, following roles at ING Australia and BT Investment Management.

Notably, Mr de Pourbaix joins Fidelity from Lonsec Investment Solutions where he was executive director and chief investment officer, responsible for investment strategy, portfolio construction, product development, and team leadership.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Hanson said that Mr de Pourbaix has a proven track record in driving business growth and achieving investment outcomes for clients.

“Lukasz has the ideal experience and knowledge to support our business in the Australian market and understands the needs of our clients as they face challenging market and economic conditions,” Mr Hanson explained.

“His strong knowledge of portfolio construction, investment analysis and asset allocation will be particularly valuable.”

In April, Lonsec formally announced that Mr de Pourbaix will leave the business in June.

Michael Wright, Lonsec chief executive, commended him for his tenure spanning almost 15 years across a number of leadership roles.

“Lukasz has made an outstanding contribution to Lonsec and the industry, establishing our strong investment consulting and managed account capabilities,” Mr Wright commented on the occasion.

“We wish Lukasz all the best with the next exciting stage of his career.”

“Fourteen years have flown and I’ve had the privilege of working with a group of great people and have been given the trust and opportunity to build one of the pre-eminent managed account businesses in the Australian market,” Mr de Pourbaix added in a post on LinkedIn confirming his departure.

Mr de Pourbaix is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a bachelor of commerce and a diploma of financial planning.
