Prior to Perpetual, Ms Gazal was COO for Asia-Pacific distribution and Singapore COO at DWS Group. She previously held a number of roles across trading and distribution at Deutsche Bank and was COO of the European emerging market debt trading desk at Credit Suisse in London.

Having amassed more than 20 years of experience in asset management and investment banking, First Sentier said that Ms Gazal would bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the firm.

“I am delighted to welcome Amanda to the First Sentier Investors team,” said chief executive officer Mark Steinberg.

“Amanda’s proven track record of driving operational excellence and her strong leadership skills make her the ideal candidate to lead our operations as we continue to grow our business.”

First Sentier said that Ms Gazal will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and driving operational excellence to support its growth strategy.

She will be tasked with collaborating closely with the executive leadership team to develop and execute operational strategies that align with the firm’s overall vision and goals.

According to First Sentier, Ms Gazal will oversee multiple departments including global operations, IT, data management, project management, and supplier management.

Additionally, she will work alongside the leadership team to implement efficiency and scale to enhance productivity and ensure the best outcomes for clients and investors.

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Gazal said: “I am thrilled to be joining First Sentier Investors as the new chief operating officer.”

“I am very much looking forward to working with the executive leadership team and more broadly with the talented team at First Sentier Investors and to be part of the organisation’s continued growth journey,” she added.

Ms Gazal will take over from Gary Cotton, who has been serving as interim COO in addition to his responsibilities as regional managing director of EMEA.

In light of Ms Gazal’s new appointment, Perpetual has also announced a new COO.
