Federated Hermes has announced the appointment of Jim Roland as its new head of distribution for the Asia-Pacific (APAC).

In this role, Mr Roland will oversee Federated Hermes’ sales and distribution efforts across APAC, including Australia, and will report to Federated Securities Corp president Paul Uhlman, who oversees global distribution of the firm.

Currently leading the institutional client group in London, Mr Roland is set to relocate to Federated Hermes’ Singapore regional office.

Notably, he is to succeed Jake Nilsson, who has moved into the new role of head of private market sales, ex-North America, based in London.

First joining the firm in 2014, Mr Nilsson had overseen the growth of the Federated Hermes APAC team, with offices in Sydney, Singapore, and Tokyo serving institutional and wholesale clients.

“APAC is an important, dynamic, and growing market for Federated Hermes, and we have a fantastic team across the region which is a testament to the work Jake has done. I’m looking forward to building on our momentum,” Mr Roland commented on the transition.

Mr Ulhman added: “We have accomplished a phased growth plan for expansion across Asia-Pacific over the last five years, shown by our recent office openings in Australia and Japan and a significant increase in AUM.

“Looking ahead, Jim and his team will be focusing efforts on aligning our product offerings to the needs of clients across Asia-Pacific,” Mr Ulhman concluded.

In January, Federates Hermes’ global stewardship services business, EOS, appointed a new lead for its Asia and global emerging markets engagement team.

The appointment meant that Federated Hermes now has over 60 professionals working across its stewardship and responsibility teams.
