InvestorDaily’s ESG Summit, supported by platinum partner Australian Ethical, was highly successful in its second year running, boasting fascinating sessions and panel discussions and drawing the attention of hundreds of advisers across Australia’s biggest capital cities.

Advisers heard from speakers on subjects ranging from navigating the ESG evolution, the roadmap to net zero, value-based investing and how it improves investment returns, what it means to deliver sustainable advice, defining the ‘S’ in ESG, and more.

Speakers included Simon O’Connor, CEO of the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA), who delivered a compelling session on the global evolution of ESGs.

Summarising his experience at the 2022 ESG Summit, Mr O’Connor said: “It’s a critical time for advisers to be addressing ESG and ethical issues in their businesses, with surging client interest, rapidly developing investment options available and the early signs of a regulatory environment that is increasingly switched on to ESG.”

“The InvestorDaily ESG Summit in Melbourne and Sydney was an important opportunity for the financial advice community to gather and unpack what this wave of interest in ESG means for providing financial advice and building stronger advice businesses that better meet clients’ needs.”

Mr O’Connor referenced a recent consumer survey which revealed that 65 per cent of Australians expect their financial adviser to be knowledgeable about responsible and ethical investing.

“Now is the time for this profession to move to embrace ESG and see the benefits of deeper engagement and better outcomes for your clients.”

The ESG Summit hosted a wide range of fascinating speakers, including Nathan Fradley director, Ethos ESG/Tribeca Financial; Dr Rebecca Huntley, author and researcher on climate change communications; Guy Dickinson CEO, BetaCarbon and many, many more.

Commenting on her first ESG Summit, InvestorDaily editor, Maja Garaca Djurdjevic, said:“I felt very honoured to be a part of this year’s ESG Summit which brought together hundreds of advisers in an in-person setting in both Sydney and Melbourne, providing them a truly unique experience and a chance to mingle with like-minded individuals for the first time since the start of the pandemic.”

“Advisers welcomed our guest speakers and our team with open hands and contributed to a truly unforgettable event. We look forward to seeing you again next year!”
