Versace, an experienced executive and qualified lawyer, commenced the role at Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC) on 18 August.

As chief risk and compliance officer (CROO), she oversees the governance, risk management, compliance and legal functions of the organisation. Additionally, she is responsible for ensuring these functions effectively support CSC’s business operations and major projects.

Commenting on the appointment, CEO Damian Hill said Versace’s track record and financial services leadership experience will be invaluable to the organisation.

“I’m pleased to welcome Nevein to our executive committee at a significant time for CSC. With an exciting pipeline of future-focused activity ahead of us to improve customer experience and strengthen our data and systems, Nevein’s technical expertise and leadership skills will play an important role in our success,” he said.

Versace has worked in the financial services sectors, predominantly in banking and superannuation, for over 27 years. She has experience designing and delivering risk management and governance frameworks, advising on corporate legal matters, responding to regulatory change and leading business transformation.

Her most recent roles were as chief risk officer at Equity Trustees, general manager compliance at HESTA, and head of enterprise risk at AustralianSuper.

CSC highlighted that Versace’s appointment has increased female representation in the super fund’s leadership to over 40 per cent on the executive committee and 75 per cent on the board.

Versace said she is proud to be joining an organisation dedicated to supporting those who serve.

“I’m proud to be joining CSC, an organisation so clearly committed to supporting Australian public service and Australian Defence Force workers in preparing for and sustaining a
comfortable retirement.”

CSC provides superannuation services and retirement solutions tailored to Australian government employees and currently manages over $70 billion in funds under management.
