Cbus Super, the $85-billion industry super fund, has announced the appointment of Jordan Kraiten as its new head of infrastructure.

Mr Kraiten has more than 20 years of industry experience and will join Cbus from fellow industry super fund Hostplus, where he served as head of infrastructure for 11 years.

In this role, Mr Kraiten was focused on portfolio strategy and design, portfolio management, execution of new investments, and developing a broad range of external relationships.

Prior to Hostplus, he worked at Macquarie Bank across several offices including Sydney, Houston, and New York, mainly within the bank’s risk management division.

Commenting on the appointment, Cbus deputy chief investment officer (CIO) and head of private markets, Alexandra Campbell, said that Mr Kraiten is a key addition to the investment team and will bring considerable experience in managing infrastructure investments.

“Jordan is highly respected across the infrastructure sector having built a diversified portfolio of quality assets that have delivered strong results for Hostplus members throughout his tenure,” Ms Campbell said.

“With around $85 billion in FUM, Cbus is a leading super fund for infrastructure investment in Australia. It’s an exciting time at Cbus following the release of our new five-year investment strategy, which continues to focus on driving strong long-term performance.”

Mr Kaiten, who holds a bachelor of commerce with honours in finance from Monash University, is set to commence as head of infrastructure at Cbus in the new year.

“With the strategic aim of managing over 50 per cent of our assets internally, Jordan’s appointment provides a dedicated resource to lead our high-calibre infrastructure team as we optimise the portfolio and drive greater value from both new and existing assets, both locally and globally,” Ms Campbell concluded.

The super fund also recently announced the creation of new chief strategy, transformation, operating, and people officer roles, alongside the appointment of Ms Campbell as deputy CIO and head of private markets.

“I am proud to announce a refocused executive team and the appointment of five new outstanding leaders at Cbus,” Cbus chief executive Kristian Fok said last month.

“The new roles and a reinvigorated business unit model will support the fund’s future development, so Cbus is always the organisation we want and need to be for our members.”
