Cbus has announced the appointment of a new head of retirement as well as a new head of product governance to support the firm’s growth strategy into the future.

Existing head of product Jon Sedawie will take up the head of retirement role at the super fund, while Craig Plain, current head of product at Equipsuper, will move into the head of product governance role from mid-May.

“Cbus is very excited about the creation of these two new roles which represent an important milestone in the execution of two key elements of our strategy – readying ourselves for our inorganic growth opportunities and further enhancements to our already leading retirement offerings to members,” said Cbus CEO Justin Arter.

According to Cbus, the head of retirement role was created to build a greater focus on the super fund’s retirement offering. In the role, Mr Sedawie will be accountable for an integrated strategy as well as programs to improve the retirement outcomes of members.

These will include product development, member experience, help, education and advice, retirement modelling, simulators and tools, marketing and disclosure.

Meanwhile, Cbus said that Mr Plain will be responsible for the end-to-end process and controls that are used to design, launch and monitor its product to ensure it meets commercial, customer and regulatory requirements.

The head of product governance position also includes responsibility for the product governance framework, including rigorous policies, processes and systems to ensure alignment to strategy across the lifecycle of the product.

“Both Jon and Craig have significant experience in developing and delivering products that are fit for purpose at all stages of members’ experience with Cbus,” said Mr Arter.

“Our commitment to these two roles managing this critical area of member experience, will ensure Cbus continues to deliver the right products at the right time for all members.”

Earlier this month, Cbus confirmed its merger with Media Super had been finalised, creating a $75 billion super fund with nearly 850,000 members.
