Led by the fund’s chief commercial officer, Sean Marteene, the executive appointments look to drive a number of Brighter Super’s growth strategy initiatives across member experience, product and service development for its 255,000 members.

Jennifer McSpadden, former head of marketing at the fund, has been named head of retirement. With over two decades of experience in superannuation, she was previously the head of product – retirement and investments at SPSL (Suncorp Super) which merged with Brighter Super in May 2023.

Taking her place as the marketing lead will be Renee Davidson, who joined the fund after over a year and a half as marketing general manager at Allianz Australia. Her resume also includes over seven years at insurer RACQ and almost three years at BT Financial Group.

Meanwhile, Brad Hancock has been appointed head of customer experience and takes up the role after two decades in London and a stint in North America, where he spearheaded the marketing and digital strategy for firms like Russell Investments, LaSalle Investment Management and BNY Mellon.

Rounding up the new executive team, Brighter Super’s new head of product will be Cristina Saija, who brings over two decades of experience and a strong background in superannuation, retirement, investment and insurance products to the role. She made the move from Aware Super, where she served as a senior product manager for three years.

“Together, these appointments fortify Brighter Super’s dedication to enriching the financial futures of its members, and will propel Brighter Super’s organic growth strategy by building an impactful brand presence and deepening member experience and engagement,” the fund told Super Review in a statement.
