BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has announced the appointment of a new head of stewardship in the Asia-Pacific region within its Global Sustainability Centre.

Ms Jane Karen Ho is based in Singapore and has over 20 years’ experience in financial services and the investment management industry.

She previously worked as the director of Investor Practice at the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change. Ms Ho led numerous global initiatives, such as the Net Zero Asset Managers Initiative and the Paris-Aligned Investment Initiative.

Ms Ho also launched a collaborative engagement program that runs in parallel to Climate Action 100+. Prior to this, she worked at JP Morgan Asset Management for over 10 years as an equities portfolio manager.

In her new role as head of stewardship, Ms Ho will guide the firm’s stewardship activities in the Asia-Pacific region. These will include researching key governance issues, managing direct and collaborative engagement on sustainable concerns and working with policymakers on sustainable finance.

Ms Ho will report to BNPP AM’s global head of stewardship, Michael Herskovich, and Singapore’s chief executive officer, Angelia Chin-Sharpe.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jane to BNP Paribas Asset Management as we continue to reinforce and extend the firm’s commitment to sustainable investing in Asia Pacific. Jane will be a hugely valuable addition to the Global Sustainability Centre as we increase our engagement with issuers in the region,” said Mr Herskovich.

“With Asia Pacific being a major contributor to climate change and biodiversity challenges, she will play a crucial role in leading the firm’s sustainability and stewardship work in this area,” he added.

“The addition of Jane to the Asia-Pacific sustainability team will be invaluable as we continue to expand the firm’s sustainable capabilities in Singapore and the region,” commented Ms Chin-Sharpe.

“She will be instrumental in the development of our robust approach to corporate governance and ambition in terms of stewardship activities as we further cement our position as the sustainable investor for a changing world,” she also said.
