The business said it is expanding to cater for increasing demand for specialist advisory support in a rapidly changing industry landscape.

It also noted “escalating concern about conflicts of interest within the investment consulting world.”

Director Mr van Zyp commented: “Through this period the industry has undergone significant change and continues to face pressures; it is essential that we think ahead to how investors’ needs will evolve.”

“We are delighted to work with Gerard Parlevliet. His unwavering focus on member outcomes and substantial experience working for super funds will help us to develop our services and add value for our clients.”

Mr Parlevliet has more than 28 years’ experience in the superannuation sector, previously working as chief investment officer at Commonwealth Bank Group Super.

He currently holds non-executive roles for institutions including Prime Super, La Trobe financial and the CBHS Health Fund and also volunteers on various committees for the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA).

“I am pleased to be joining the bfinance team. Having been a client in my former role at a super fund, I have experienced first-hand the value that this firm can bring to investors,” Mr Parlevliet said.

“I am looking forward to helping them develop and introduce innovative solutions to the rapidly changing Australian investment market.”
