Moving into her new role following a seven-year stint as global head of responsible investment at Cbus Super Fund and previously notching up several key environmental management roles at General Electric (GE) in Sydney and Tokyo, Ms Bradford hauls an impressive body of knowledge and experience to one of Australia’s largest superfunds.
The superfund has netted Ms Bradford as its first major appointment into its senior team at a crucial time in its corporate history, forming itself from a recent merger between Sunsuper and Qsuper in February, and now managing more than $230 million in retirement savings for more than two million members.
Hailing Ms Bradford as an industry leader in responsible investing, Australian Retirement Trust’s chief investment officer, Ian Patrick said she joins the fund at an “exciting time” as the team works to unite their two heritage investment portfolios, with a key focus on sustainable investing.
“As a profit-for-members superannuation fund, we believe integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into our investment philosophy is consistent with better investment outcomes and contributes to a more sustainable future for our members and all Australians,” Mr Patrick said.
Mr Patrick affirmed that they are “committed to being a force for good that enhances retirement outcomes and to make the world a better place” for its members.
He underlined Ms Bradford’s environmental credentials, highlighting her experience spanning more than 25 years in embedding sustainable thinking and practices with organisations.
“Nicole will play a pivotal role in helping build on Australian Retirement Trust’s work in the rapidly maturing space of responsible investment,” Mr Patrick said.
“This is a critical role for Australian Retirement Trust, helping to build on the combined capability and strength of the wider investment team, and we are fortunate to have someone of Nicole’s experience and leadership qualities join the team.”
According to the Australian Retirement Trust, Ms Bradford will commence her new role in May.
